This recipe is seriously amazing! It’s decadent yet light, a perfect dessert for the summertime. The best thing about this recipe is that it’s very quick and only takes a few minutes to prepare. All you need is a ripe avocado, raw cacao powder and a healthy sweetener of choice. So, let’s get in the kitchen and get this party started!
You can pick any toppings you’d like to make this your very own creation. Some of my favorite are goji berries, chia seeds, coconut flakes and raw cacao nibs (featured in this photo).
For the purposes of today’s post, I wanted to do something fancier and more creative, so I decided to whip up my very special raw coconut butter frosting, which I used to spread over this beautiful chocolate dessert. It blended in with the chocolate so nicely!
The frosting is very easy to make and tastes absolutely incredible! Try it for yourself if you’d like. It’s worth the few extra minutes you will spend in the kitchen. Promise.
The frosting is made of a raw (organic, grass-fed) egg blended together with a ripe banana, some coconut butter and maple syrup to sweeten things up a bit. If you wish to make this dessert 100% vegan, skip the egg. You can also freeze the banana beforehand which will give this frosting more of an ice-cream texture.
The raw chocolate mousse is one of those magic desserts you can afford to treat yourself to every day! It is not only delicious, but it is full of vitamins, minerals and healthy fats.
Raw chocolate (cacao powder) is rich in alkalizing minerals like magnesium, calcium and sulphur and also has powerful antioxidant properties. It stimulates the production of endorphins in the brain and may even help alleviate symptoms of depression.
Not all chocolate is created equal though. Be careful with the store-bought stuff as it can be packed with refined sugar and hydrogenated, processed fats. The best way to enjoy chocolate is to make it yourself (I will share my recipe on the blog soon). I promise you it is so worth the effort!
