I’ve had a love-hate relationship with juicing over the years. It is a habit I’ve desperately wanted to adopt, but always felt compelled to drop the whole thing every time it came to washing produce and cleaning my juicer.
I like blending my veggies though, so I came to an agreement with my health-conscious self: I will keep drinking my smoothies each morning and stick to juicing greens on weekends when I am not strapped for time. Genius!
I am happy to say that the more green leafy juice I drank, the more of its nutritional goodness I craved. Today, I find myself juicing almost every day. I don’t even think about it. I even came up with a system to clean my juicer in less than 5 minutes!
All it takes is lining up the pulp container with a disposable bag which I can easily toss in the trash when done (I usually reuse the small plastic bags from my groceries). I also bought a kitchen brush to scrub the other parts clean of pulp and green residue. So easy!
At the end of the day, the health benefits of juicing green veggies significantly outweigh the somewhat annoying experience of having to clean up after. It is one of those things you just have to get used to in the name of staying healthy and keep your skin glowing! I promise you, the more you try to juice, the quicker it will become a habit and a part of your everyday routine.
Newsflash: Taking proper care of your health does require some effort and self-discipline. Sorry to break it to you, but there is no such thing as a magic pill, otherwise we’ll all be taking it!
The good news is, once you get into the habit of nurturing your gorgeous bod, you will find yourself less and less likely to fall back into old unhealthy habits. You just have to be patient and start one step at a time. Adding good instead of restricting the bad results in building a sustainably healthy lifestyle.

- 4 stalks of kale
- 1 c spinach
- 3 stalks celery
- 1 apple
- ½ bunch parsley
- 1 small to medium cucumber (optional)
- Wash all produce carefully
- Put through the juicer
- Enjoy while fresh
