One of my favorite things about summer is the abundance of fresh, locally grown produce. This time of year you will find me at farmers’ market most days. The bright colors, the sweet and earthy smell of fresh fruits and veggies and the beautiful arrangements are simply irresistible!
I am especially in love with berries right now. Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, cranberries — if it’s a berry, I’ll eat it.
Besides frequenting the farmers’ markets, I also enjoy going to the beach, the ocean air, warm weather and sunshine on my face.
Pitta represents the elements of fire and water. According to Ayurveda, living in harmony with nature matters because nature knows best and as we move through the different seasons, she provides us with what our body needs most to stay healthy and balanced.
During summer the element of heat predominates and in order to stay hydrated, nature gifts us an abundance of fruits and vegetables. Their cooling properties help to put off the excess fire and keep our body properly hydrated.
Watermelon and berries are both light, sweet and cooling which is why I picked them up for today’s recipe.
Although bursting with sweetness, these fruits are naturally low in sugar and a refreshing choice during the hot summer days. The lemon adds an energizing zest to this cocktail making it even more irresistible.
I promise you, it will be difficult to put your glass down once you start drinking this beauty. The good news is you don’t have to!
The watermelon berry smoothie is low on calories and contains no added sugar. Yet, it is still sweet and refreshing, and packs in lots of great nutrition.
Enjoy this cocktail and be sure to share with your friends ♥ Happy 4th!!
